Air Duct Cleaning

However, If you decide to have your heating and cooling system cleaned, it is important to make sure that the service provider is a state certified HVAC contractor that could clean the air handler coils, cabinet, able to replace plenums Mastic seal ducts and replace damaged duct lines if need be. Beware of non Air conditioning licensed contractors trying to sell the use of sealants to encapsulate the inside surfaces of ducts as this is a different practice than sealing duct air leaks. Note: There are many carpet cleaning companies and others whom are non-qualified to do any necesary duct or air conditioning work, they may ignore any component that is contaminated or damaged that needs to be replaced as they are not licensed to work with these components.
Duct Cleaning
Duct cleaning includes the supply and return air ducts, registers, grilles and diffusers in addition you may have to clean your heat exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans (drip pans), fan motor and fan housing, and the air handling unit cabinet.
If the air conditioning system was
not properly installed, maintained, and operated, these components may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen or other debris, an improper seal of the duct system connections will cause it to (sweat) condensate this in most cases causes water buildup in the duct system and microbiological growth. As the air handler is forcing air through these ducts it may be blown through the registers into the indoor area of the home. It is a serious matter when mold is present and failure to clean a component of a contaminated system can result in a contamination of the entire system.
Methods of Duct Cleaning 
Methods of duct cleaning vary from different contractors, this is why there is such a price difference, many use a small high powered vacuum cleaner, their typical procedure is to remove all supply and return registers and insert the vacuum hose that has a brush attached to the end of it as far as it would go in which sadly is not very far because the natural curveture of the flex ducts prevents the hose from going futher.
